What stays on your computer
- Deewanji reads the files you choose. It never edits or deletes your originals.
- Its record of your projects is saved in your Windows user folder at
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Deewanji\data, with copies of the last seven days. - There is no account, no sign-in and no cloud storage. We, the makers, receive nothing from the app.
- The app runs on your own PC and only accepts connections from your own PC.
The saved record contains text from your files and is not encrypted, so it is as safe as your Windows account. Backups and project files you export are not encrypted either.
When something does leave your PC
Only if you turn on the optional AI drafting. It is off by default.
- You add your own Claude API key from Anthropic. It is kept in Windows Credential Manager.
- Before each request you see a preview of the exact text that will be sent and an estimated cost.
- When you press Send, that text goes straight from your PC to Anthropic's Claude API. It does not pass through us. Anthropic's own terms and privacy policy apply to it, and Anthropic bills your API account.
- You can turn AI drafting off or remove your key at any time.
Optional: the Claude extension
Only if you install the Deewanji extension in the Claude desktop app. It is not installed by default.
- The extension runs on your own PC and reads the saved record in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Deewanji\data, and a project file when Claude asks for it. It is read-only: it never changes, adds or deletes anything. - When you ask Claude about a project, the parts Claude asks for (such as the handoff, search results or the text of a file) are shown to Claude as part of your chat. They are then handled by Anthropic under Anthropic's own terms and privacy policy and your Claude plan. They do not pass through us, and we receive nothing.
- Passwords, keys and tokens found in your files are hidden in every answer.
- You can switch the extension off or uninstall it at any time in the Claude app under Settings, Extensions. It does nothing unless Claude is open and you ask.
